Hotlinking is when another website displays your images or files directly from your server, using your bandwidth.
- In cPanel, open Hotlink Protection in the Security section.
- Click Enable.
- Check the URLs to allow access list includes all your own domains, with and without www and with https.
- Check the file extensions to protect (jpg, jpeg, gif, png, webp etc.).
- Tick Allow direct requests so people can still open the files directly or via bookmarks.
- Click Submit.
Things to know
- If you use a CDN, Cloudflare or another domain to show your images, add it to the allowed list.
- Social media previews and some email newsletters may stop showing your images; add their domains if needed.
