How to use SSH keys on macOS Print

  • 0

  1. Open Terminal and create a key:
ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -C "your@email.co.uk"

Press Enter to save it in the default location and set a passphrase.

  1. Copy the public key to your clipboard:
pbcopy < ~/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub
  1. In cPanel, open SSH Access › Manage SSH Keys › Import Key. Name it, paste into the public key box and click Import.
  2. Back on Manage SSH Keys, click Manage beside the key and Authorize it.
  3. Connect:
ssh -p 9284 cpanelusername@your-server-hostname

Make it easier

Add this to ~/.ssh/config so you can just type ssh myhosting:

Host myhosting
  HostName your-server-hostname
  User cpanelusername
  Port 9284
  IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_ed25519

macOS can store your passphrase in Keychain; add UseKeychain yes and AddKeysToAgent yes to the same block.
