How to set up a DMARC record in cPanel Print

  • 0

DMARC tells receiving mail servers what to do with messages that fail SPF or DKIM checks, and can send you reports. Google, Yahoo and Microsoft now expect a DMARC record from many senders.

Set up SPF and DKIM first (see How to add an SPF record).

Add the record

  1. In cPanel, open Zone Editor and click Manage beside your domain.
  2. Click Add Record and choose TXT.
  3. Name: _dmarc.yourdomain.co.uk
  4. Record: v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:you@yourdomain.co.uk
  5. Click Save Record.

Policy options

  • p=none – monitor only; nothing is blocked. Start here.
  • p=quarantine – failing mail goes to spam.
  • p=reject – failing mail is refused.

Watch the reports for a few weeks to confirm all your legitimate email passes, then tighten the policy to quarantine and eventually reject.
