If your emails are bouncing or going to spam, work through these checks.
1. Read the bounce message
The bounce (non-delivery report) usually explains why: a blocklist, a spam score, a missing record or a full mailbox. Keep it, as it's the most useful information for us if you need help.
2. Check SPF, DKIM and DMARC
In cPanel, open Email Deliverability. Fix any problems it reports for SPF or DKIM, then add a DMARC record (see our guides).
3. Check blocklists
Use mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx to check your domain and our server's IP. If the server IP is listed, raise a ticket and we'll deal with it.
4. Look at the content
- Avoid spammy wording, all caps and lots of exclamation marks
- Don't send email that's just one large image
- Make sure links point to reputable sites
- Include a plain-text version and a real signature
5. Check your own account
A compromised mailbox or website sending spam damages your reputation. Change mailbox passwords and scan your site if you suspect this.
6. Use a proper service for bulk mail
Newsletters to large lists should go through an email marketing service, not your hosting mailbox.
